Presidential Debate Produces Focus On Space Policy - Contact The Candidates Now!

by Alex Kirk last modified 2008-08-26 12:33 — expired

Since the Space Debate that took place at the recent Mars Society convention in Boulder on August 14th, there has been an unprecedented amount of discussion about space policy coming from the candidates and their campaigns. While this sudden flurry of space support is indicative of how tight this race has become, it is also a tremendous opportunity for the space community to make sure that humans to Mars will become the official policy of an Obama or McCain administration.

Please help us make sure the candidates know that there is strong, nation-wide support for sending humans to Mars. We call on all Mars Society members and all others who believe that a human mission to Mars should be conducted as quickly as possible to contact the candidates. Over the next couple of months we hope that you all will call, write and/or fax the candidates and voice your support.

Remember, in the year 2000, George W. Bush won the election by a few hundred votes in Florida. Your opinion and your vote do matter.

You can contact the candidates directly using the following information:

Obama for America
P.O. Box 8102
Chicago, IL 60680
Phone (866) 675-2008

John McCain 2008
P.O. Box 16118
Arlington, VA 22215
Phone(703) 418-2008

Alternately, you can use the Mars Society fax tool, which will automatically prepare your message in letter form and fax it to one or both campaigns. Questions about using the tool should be directed to alex@marssociety.org.
